TRAC (The Reverend's Anointed Collection)

Sunday, 1st November 2026

In my 2 previous posts, I had blogged about how Spotify provides a platform for hosting audio and video podcasts totally free-of-charge, and that I will be making available all 121 sermons that TRAC President Rev Reuben Ng preached during his 5-year tenure as the Youth Pastor of Paya Lebar Methodist Church ("PLMC"), from Aug 2007 to Jul 2012.

Here is that link again

https://open.spotify.com/show/1hvLLyamh26v9FSmSaFr3R

121 sermons over 5 years translates into an average of 24.2 sermons per year, or close to a sermon every other week.  That regular feeding on God's unadulterated Word was sufficient sustenance for my wife and I to continue staying on in PLMC.

I did up a Pivot table, and what is pleasantly surprising is that he preached at the Main/Adult service as often as he did at The Next Generation ("TNG") Youth Service!

In fact, after Rev Dr Jonathan Seet was posted into PLMC in 2010 to replace Peter Koh as her Pastor-in-Charge, he made Holy Communion Sunday (ie. the 1st Sunday of every month) Service a combined one (ie. there would not be a separate TNG Service at PLMGS, but the youth would instead attend the Main service.

Rev Seet would also share the pulpit with his 3 fellow pastors, which meant Rev Reuben ended up preaching more regularly at the main service, and the numbers bear this out:

I have now uploaded 55 of his 121 sermons, together with AI-generated synopses.  Happy feeding!

Oh ya, those who are sharp would have noticed that I have renamed the podcast to TRAC (The Reverend's Anointed Collection): Sermons by Reuben Ng, in acknowledgement of how God has fast-tracked him from a Member-on-Trial in Aug 2007 to President in Nov 2024.  May God continue to lengthen his cords and strengthen his stakes.  Amen?

When he become Bishop of the Methodist Church in Singapore, maybe the podcast will be renamed MCS (Marvellous Collection of Sermons) accordingly :-)

AI = Anointed / Awesome Intelligence

Friday, 23rd October 2026

Artificial Intelligence ("AI") seems to be a very hot topic nowadays.

I recently attended a breakfast talk conducted by Citibank, and noted that practically every speaker made a constant mention of it.  In fact, they even put the word AI in the title.

OpenAI and Anthropic, the organisations behind ChatGPT and Claude are planning massive trillion-dollar valued IPOs.

We accountants, the boring, bean-counting, archaic, book- and ledger-keeping "dinosaurs", are not exempted from AI either.  The Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants ("ISCA"), the professional body that local practicing accountants are associated with, have kept up with the times by partnering relevant experts to come up with learning content to equip her members to become conversant with AI.

AIxAccountancy, the AI Fluency Programme by ISCA-AINexus seeks to prepare us "for the future workforce".  I just completed the online training today and received the relevant badge and certification, and have duly shared it on Linkedin :-)

Well, any invention by mankind can be used for both good and bad.  After all, God is the source of innovation, while the devil is the source of counterfeiting.

In my previous post, I used AI to discover a free platform to host Rev Reuben Ng's anointed sermons.  They have been uploaded onto Spotify.

And just today, I used Google's Gemini to come up with 2-paragraph summaries for each of his sermons!

This is what it generated for his first sermon:

The maiden sermon "(001) I Shouldn't Be Here" by Rev Reuben Ng, preached at Paya Lebar Methodist Church (PLMC)'s "The Next Generation" (TNG) youth service, is a raw and moving testimony centred on the unconditional love of God.  Reflecting on his personal journey and his new assignment as a pastor, he uses the phrase "I shouldn't be here" to capture the deep humility of being selected by God despite feeling entirely unqualified.  The core message unpacks how divine grace completely overrides human error, flaws, and past mistakes, turning lives around in ways that defy personal merit or human expectation.

The sermon delivers a profound, fresh revelation of the parable of the Prodigal Son, specifically focusing on the overwhelming depth of Abba Father's love. Through the lens of Luke 15:20, Rev Reuben highlights how God runs to embrace us with open arms, regardless of where we have been or what our past looks like. The ultimate takeaway is an encouraging declaration of hope for the listener: your past does not define your future capacity to be utilized by God, because His grace is bigger than your history.

Awesome ya?

That is why I am titling this post, ANOINTED intelligence and AWESOME intelligence.  Hallelujah!

A Collection of Anointed Sermons on Podcast

Wednesday, 21st October 2026

Regular readers of my blog will know that the main reason why I stayed on in Paya Lebar Methodist Church ("PLMC") despite being made to step down as the Treasurer and a CG Leader by law-based Peter Koh back in July 2007 was because the then-TRAC President, Bishop Emeritus Wee Boon Hup had posted grace-based Rev Reuben Ng (a then-MOT who just graduated from TTC) to replace law-based Barnabas Chong as her Youth Pastor on 1 August 2007.

Rev Reuben's sermons are always focused on Jesus and His finished work, so I would listen to him on Sundays (whenever he preached) and then purchase Ps Prince's sermons to listen to when it was made available the Thursdays that same week.

I was quite the "fan-boy" of his, and bought all of his sermon recordings, and even compiled the 1st 100 of them onto a DVD-R, which he so graciously autographed.

I was de-cluttering my stuff recently and came across that autographed copy, which is definitely a collector's item haha.

I caught up with some PLMC members recently, and the common lament is that they miss Rev Reuben's preaching. He is the current TRAC President, a role that is largely administrative, so he hardly gets the opportunity to stand behind the pulpit nowadays.

As part of that de-cluttering, I also chanced upon a Samsung portable disk, on which I had stored in a folder all 121(!) sermons that he preached at PLMC before moving to Toa Payoh Methodist Church ("TPMC") on 1 August 2012.  I also have some of his TPMC sermons, but unfortunately, not all of them.

Here is a screenshot of that folder:

I did an AI search, and discovered that Spotify actually allows one to maintain an audio/video podcast channel totally free-of-charge!

They have an app known as "Spotify for Creators", where their familiar logo is coloured purple rather than green.

So dear PLMC members (and everyone out there in blogosphere), your wish is my command :-)

It will take some time for me to upload his entire 121-sermon library archive, so please bear with me.

For a start, you can listen to his 1st 40 sermons by clicking on the following link:

Recalling the Year of Hesed Wisdom

Monday, 19th October 2026

Hesed Wisdom was the theme for 2018, the year my wife and I officially moved over to New Creation Church.

Besides de-cluttering cupboards, shelves, drawers, wardrobe, etc, in anticipation of the move to our condo, I have also had to do de-cluttering of data that were backed up on CD/DVD-Rs, thumb drives, portable hard disks, etc.

While looking through a particular thumb drive, I came across photos and videos that were snapped in 2018 that are worth watching, and have uploaded them here for everyone's viewing pleasure :-)

This photo was taken using a drone. It was at a gathering that I hosted for fellow drivers serving in the Logistics & Transport Ministry and their immediate family members:

Go Forth and Circulate!

Saturday, 7th February 2026

There is this urban legend that the late Lee Kuan Yew consulted a Fengshui Master on how Singapore could experience prosperity.  The master told him to design 8-sided octagon-shaped objects for everyday use and have them circulate all around the island.

Hence, the road tax discs of yore and the $1 coins that are still being used today.

Well, we as Christians do not need to rely on "geomancy", but on God Almighty.

Which brings me to the Much More car decal giveaway that was launched 3 weeks ago.

Hearty congratulations to the winners!  May the 15 of you (+ the 62 others I have distributed it to) stick them on your car windscreen and experience God's much more blessings as you go about your daily commute and traverse the island.

Go forth and circulate! :-)

Meanwhile, here are the answers to the 5 questions:

Q1. Why did the author not attend the Annual Servers' Appreciation ("ASA") event in 2017, even though he had joined the Logistics & Transport ("L&T") ministry earlier that same year?
[Hint: look at the date he joined and the date of that year's ASA]
A1. Servers are required to complete at least 6 months of serving before being eligible to attend the ASA.  The author joined the ministry on 7 May 2017; the ASA took place in August 2017.

Q2: The author won a "MAD" Award during his inaugural ASA event the following year, ie. in 2018. What does MAD stand for and how many awardees were there in total altogether?
[Hint: you will need to include the 2 "extra" awards that were given out]
A2. MAD = "making a difference".  There were 10 original categories, 2 were subsequently added, making a total of 12.

Q3: The author has made 3 themed T-shirts for 2023 to 2025.  What did he say would be the likely colour for 2026's and why has he not arranged for it to be done yet at the time of writing?
[Hint: it is going to be a colour other than the 3 already used, and what typically appears on the front of the T-shirts]
A3. Pink. The previous colours were yellow (2023), green (2024) and orange (2025). He had to wait for the Chinese version of the theme to be released, to have that included on the front of the T(heme)-shirt.

Q4: Who did the author give the ACS bear to, and what was the significance of his best kingdom friend ("BKF") David Tang being included in the photo that was taken with the recipient of the said bear?
[Hint: it has to do with the recipient's profession and the common relationship he has with the author and his BKF]
A4. He gave the bear to Mr Peter Tan.  Mr Tan was his son's principal in ACS Junior and ACS Barker.  He was also the principal of Queenstown Secondary, when both of David Tang's sons were students there.

Q5: The author used to paste all previous year's theme decals on his car's windscreen, but not anymore.  Why so, and what practice does he adopt now?
[Hint: he changed cars in 2022]
A5. After the author got his Tesla in October 2022, he was only allowed to paste decals on the driver's side on the windscreen. So he will remove the previous year's decal and replace it with the current year's.

T(hemed)-Shirts

Sunday, 18th January 2026

hot off the press!

front of shirt
What an awesome end to the week it has been!

On Friday night, our CG met and we had a wonderful time discussing about this year's theme. I also received the 75 car decals I ordered from the supplier that same afternoon, so I have started distributing them to my CG mates.

This morning before the 1st service, I gave out decals to various pastors of my church.  And then Ps Prince preached yet another awesome sermon as a follow-up to last week's.

And to wrap it all up, Ps Mark preached on the theme, and the church has just released the Chinese version, which is "更多更盛".  This can be translated into  "much more and deeper".

back of shirt

Which means to say I can now proceed to make 2026's T(hemed)-shirt.  It will indeed be neon pink.

Hopefully, it can be ready in time for me to wear at our 1st Combined Ministry Service on Thu 29 Jan 2026.

A Monday brother of mine has been pestering me to make one for him too.

But I had to gently explain to him that the shirt is supposed to be unique, a one-of its-kind.

And similar to one's spouse, not meant to be shared with others haha :p

UPDATE 23 January 2026:

The T(hemed)-Shirt for this year just arrived today! Gonna wear it to IZ's baptism tomorrow, to service on Sunday, to Combined Ministry Service on 29 Jan and to the Marriage Seminar Group 11 dinner on 31 Jan!

2023: Kairos
2024: Upper Room
2025: Third Day

The "Much More" Car Decal Giveaway!

Saturday, 17th January 2025

Regular readers of my blog will know that I am a member of "GUFC" (Grace United For Christ), a group formed by likeminded individuals who are recipients of the wonderful gospel of grace, and respond to it by sharing our faith unabashedly, some via blogging, others by summarising New Creation Church pastors' sermons and yet others by conducting giveaways.

Just like how Jesus had 12 disciples, so too does the original GUFC.

When it was first founded by Terence Yeo in 2007, I was the only one who was still not yet attending NewCre.

So I thank God, that when I faced much hostility and animosity from the 3 then-pastors of my previous church who are against the grace gospel, He provided me with a virtual cell/care group of sorts, and till today, a handful of us still remain in active communication with one another.

I do meet up occasionally with Terence, Tom, Stan and Pearly.

Over the years, we have been giving out many of Ps Prince's resources and materials, such as books, booklets, CDs and DVDs.

In recent times, yours truly has continued the tradition, and have been giving out theme of the year car decals faithfully over the past few years.

This year, I have 15 of these beautiful "Much More" car decals to give out, absolutely free, postage-paid, to anyone residing in Singapore.

You just need to answer 5 simple questions, the answers of which can be found by reading the 3 episodes of The Adventures of Lobang King.

Episode 1: TALK

Episode 2: KLKK

Episode 3: DECALathon

Q1. Why did the author not attend the Annual Servers' Appreciation ("ASA") event in 2017, even though he had joined the Logistics & Transport ("L&T") ministry earlier that same year?

Please DM your answers directly to me via the "Post a Comment" on this particular blog entry. Do also include at least your name when you comment so that I can identify and subsequently contact you.

The first 15 to do so will each receive a Much More car decal!

The Adventures of Lobang King (Episode 3): DECALathon

Thursday, 15th January 2026

Today, we shall continue with Episode 3 of The Lobang King.

In case you missed the previous 2 episodes, you can access them here

The title "DECALathon" is a play on the word "decathlon".

"Decal" as in car decals, and "athon" as in a marathon.

Because the collection of car decals is a marathon, not a sprint.

Just like the collection of "XT" (Christian T-shirts), I have also been collecting "XD" (Christian decals) from as early as 2007.

You can read about that here:

https://rootss.blogspot.com/2007/02/decals-with-christian-messages-and.html

https://rootss.blogspot.com/2007/03/additions-to-xt-and-xd-collection.html

My earlier car decals were off-the-shelf ones that were produced in bulk.

Then sometime in mid-2020, I discovered on Carousell the existence of 2 separate suppliers, namely sharkfin.stickers and decalstickersupermart that do "customised" individual decals, without imposing any minimum order quantity requirements either.  They charge around $20-$25 per piece though, and understandably so because of the absence of economies of scale..

I ordered an Aston Villa, ACS and ACJC decal and have them proudly and permanently displayed on the windscreen of my car, viz:

Shortly thereafter in 2021, I discovered another supplier Myouki who could do 10cm X 10cm decals at reasonable prices of around $5 a piece, if one were to place a small minimal order quantity of say 3-5 pieces.

So I went to our church website to grab all the wallpaper images of the themes of the year that I could find (from 2014) and sent it along for production.

I had them displayed across the front windscreen on both the driver's and passenger's side of the BMW Gran Tourer I was driving then, until there was no more space left haha.

And then in January 2023, BKF David Tang introduced me to this other supplier! I found that the quality of her decals are second-to-none compared to the previous suppliers'.  The printed ink remains vivid even after months of exposure to the elements and the vinyl does not crumple or shrink.  I strongly-recommend this supplier, so do contact me if you need her details.

After changing to the Tesla Y in September 2022, my wife told me that I could only stick decals on the driver's side of the windscreen.

And so, I now only have the current year's decal displayed, in place of the previous year's.

Speaking of which, I have placed with the supplier an order of 75 pieces of "Much More" decals and expect to receive them by the end of this week.

15 pieces will be part of the annual giveaway, held in conjunction with Tough Questions Seekers Have ("TQSH") and GraceUnited.sg (GU).  So stay tuned for the announcement on how you can win yourself a decal, absolutely free!

The Adventures of Lobang King (Episode 2): KLKK

Wednesday, 14th January 2026

Today, we move onto Episode 2: KLKK.

Continuing from yesterday's episode about me TALKing about winning the MAD Award during my inaugural ASA event, here's concrete proof that it was definitely not keh-long at all.

I was, am, and will always be, not just the Lobang King, but the King of Lobang Kings oK (otherwise known as "KLKK"), hence this episode title haha.

Of course, Tshirts have been my all-time favourite for the longest of times.

Even as far back as 2007, I had blogged about tshirts with a Christian theme.

https://rootss.blogspot.com/2007/01/tshirts-with-christian-messages-and.html

https://rootss.blogspot.com/2007/03/additions-to-xt-and-xd-collection.html

Over the years, I have collected just too many of them, and have had to do some serious decluttering recently because we have to move out of my late parents' house, latest by the end of the year.

I have also cut down to just the 1 customised t-shirt per year, what I call the "T(hemed)-shirt".  The front will show the current year's theme in both English and Chinese, while the back will reflect all previous years' themes. The shirts are deliberately in loud and screaming neon colours so that I can be a walking billboard to be seen from afar haha. In 2023, it was yellow. In 2024, green. In 2025, orange.

the t(hemed)-shirts for 2023, 2024 and 2025 in neon colours

At the time of writing, this year's Chinese version is still not out yet, so I have not gotten it made yet.  Will update again when I do so, and am considering a pink coloured tshirt. What do you think?

Meanwhile, the back of that tshirt will look like this...

previous years themes

As indicated yesterday, the Lobang King's repertoire has expanded beyond tshirts to include others such as the following:

ARTWORK

diasec print
I have mentioned in an earlier post that I am currently a business owner.

https://rootss.blogspot.com/2025/12/the-75-c-suite-professional-2019.html

I set up a sole proprietorship called Akeraios Phronesis in July 2022 and had a piece of hyperrealism artwork drawn up for me by the renowned Patrick Bezalel Lee, who also used to do video illustrations for Ps Prince.  Pictured on the right is a diasec printing of the artwork he did.

Do let me know if you want something similar done for yourself and I can get you connected with him.

BEARS

While strolling in International Plaza, I came across a shop that made plush bears with customisable printed cropped-tops.

Pictured below on the left is the one I gave to fellow GraceUnited.sg member Thomas Shalom Liau for his water baptism in January 2020, while I gave the one on the right to Mr Peter Tan in November 2023 as his retirement gift. He was the principal when my son was in ACSJ and then ACSBR, and also of my BKF ("best kingdom friend") David Tang's 2 sons when they were studying in Queenstown Secondary School ("QSS").

Fun fact: Mr Tan was posted to QSS the very same year that David's elder son Justin went to Sec 1 (2018), and completed his tenure the very same year that David's younger son Javen completed Sec 4 (2023).

we bear bears

Unfortunately though, the supplier's website thatcornershop.com seems to be no longer in operation.

CUSHIONS

These huge emoji cushions were all the rave back in the 2010s, and I must have bought more than a dozen of them.

Now that we are decluttering, we have given most of them away.  I bought them from a TaoBao supplier through the EZBuy platform, which I believe is no longer around.

emoji cushions decoratively displayed

DECALS

Now this has been, and will always remain, a perennial favourite! So I will be dedicating a separate episode on it, Do stay tuned.  In fact, its impact is somewhat similar to the hexagonal-shaped (now defunct) road tax discs and $1-coins that circulated around the island.

EZLINK CARDS

personally-named ezlink

latter rain ezlinks
I was roped into the 2019 L&T ASA Committee and the door gift we gave out was customised EZLink Cards.

Separately I ordered 15 with that year's Latter Rain theme to give to fellow Committee members as a token of appreciation.

Here is the supplier's website for your reference
customcards.com.sg

FLASHING PANELS

This has got to be the most elaborate of them all.  David Tang and I saw generic ones being sold in a flea market when we were in Chiang Mai for that Mission Trip.  So I searched online to see if there was any company doing customised ones.

Well, indeed there is: Flashion Statement, based out of Maine, USA. I placed an order for 25 panels with the words "Hesed Wisdom", it being the theme for that particular year.

Not only does the LED label flash, you can have it flash in timing with either in-built accompanying music, or to external music.

The label can also be mounted onto the front of a tshirt using velcro, so that one can become a walking (and talking) billboard and the ultimate attention-grabber, haha.

Their website is flashionstatement.com

Stay tuned for Episode 3 where I will focus on car decals! In the meantime, it's KLKK signing off for now.

The Adventures of Lobang King (Episode 1): TALK

Tuesday, 13th January 2026

Today marks the launch of a mini-series entitled "The Adventures of Lobang King".

Episode 1: TALK.

I joined the Logistics & Transport ("L&T") Ministry as a driver on 7 May (07/05) of 2017.  I recall the date very clearly because it has my favourite numbers 7 and 5 haha.

I could not join the Annual Servers' Appreciation ("ASA") event that was held in August that same year because the church has this requirement that servers must complete at least 6 months before being allowed to attend it.

It was just as well, because I only officially changed church the following year, in January 2018.

Upon doing so, my wife and I quickly signed up to join a Care Group ("CG") (which we did in March 2018) while I also signed up for my ministry's Mission Trip that took place in April/May 2018.

I have blogged about that here:

https://rootss.blogspot.com/2025/11/mission-possible-2018.html

Trippers Debrief
I thank God for that Mission Trip because it was how I got to know others from the "Logistics" side of our Ministry.  In fact, I was the only server driver who went on that trip!  Here is a photo that Dave Tan took of us at the debrief gathering that was held at my (dad's) place in late-May 2018 upon us returning from Chiang Mai.

We drivers in the "Transport" side typically report for serving an hour earlier and also finish up an hour later.  This is because we have to drive the trucks to and fro, and hence hardly are able to fellowship outside of our own team of drivers.

Instax prints

For that year's Mission Trip, we were invited by the Principal of a Primary School to conduct a "camp" to help the children improve their English.

I was given the honour of being in-charge of the "photo booth", whereby the children could have Instax pocket-sized photos of themselves taken by us, which they could then bring back home as a keepsake.

Anyway, 2018 was indeed a very eventful year because it was my first time attending the ASA event.  And despite me being a relatively newcomer, I was warmly welcomed by my ministry mates and even won a "MAD" award!

Read on!

That year, the ASA Committee invited attendees to participate in a poll of sorts whereby we vote our fellow servers that had been MAD ("Making A Difference"), viz

MAD announcement

There were 10 categories in all, namely:

  1. Mai Tu Liao: Always On Time
  2. Tok Kong: Always Awesome
  3. Chop Chop Curry Pok: Always Efficient
  4. Yan Dao: Always Handsome
  5. Lobang King: Always Resourceful
  6. Siao Onz: Always Volunteer
  7. Mai Siao Siao: Always Serious
  8. Sayang: Super Caring
  9. Pattern More Than Badminton: Super Creative
  10. Ar Kar Liao: Social Butterfly

Guess who won MAD Award #5: The Lobang King?

MAD awardees
Yep, yours truly.

The All-time Lobang King ("TALK") even found the "lobang" to make a commemorative Tshirt for posterity's sake :-)

TALK shows the front

TALK shows the back

As I mentioned, it was truly God's provision because I was just a newbie.  The other award winners were all long-time veterans in the Ministry.

Here's a photo taken at my maiden ASA event:

Lobang's virgin ASA

Some people commented that the results were "rigged" because 8 of the 10 awardees (except for Ps Henry and Randolph) were mission-trippers haha.

In episode 2 of "The Lobang King", I will demonstrate to you that my award was definitely not keh-long hor.

God has been blessing me with being very resourceful, so that I can be a channel of blessing to others.

So besides Tshirts, what other resources does TALK have?

Here's a list from just A through F:

  • Artwork? Check.
  • Bears? Check.
  • Cushions? Check.
  • Decals? Check.
  • Ezlink cards? Check.
  • Flashing labels? Check.

Oh ya, I forgot to mention that the ASA Committee felt that 2 servers had been very enthusiastic in "participating" in the polls, so they gave out 2 additional awards, namely to the Sabo King and Sabo Queen.
