If the title of today's post looks familiar, it is because it is the motto of Adidas, the sportswear giant from Germany.
Instead of "nothing is impossible", where "nothing" is the noun and "impossible" is the adjective, they have flipped to words such that the "impossible" becomes the noun and "nothing" becomes the adjective.
This is true about our God. To Him, the impossible is nothing. There is a Latin term "creatio ex nihilio" which means "creation out of nothing".God, truly created everything out of nothing. We read in Genesis that He only had to speak the words, "light be" and light was.
Nothing is impossible with God, and to God, all things are possible. To Him, impossible is nothing.
The theme of "nothing is impossible with God" also came across in Pastor B's sermon last week on Facing the Giants, based on the movie of the same name. I was checking out the DVD that I just bought, and noted that it also comes with a Study Guide! This Guide can be used for bible study or cell groups. It contains 8 topics for discussion, based on 8 scenes from the movie. The study materials for clip #3 "Attempting the Impossible" is shown on the right.
