Barking Up The Wrong Tree

Saturday, 14th June 2008

Last week, I blogged about how Hillsong Church has caught the grace message.

Well, it would now appear that RHEMA Singapore has caught it too, because their Dean and Directors are attending New Creation Church.

The irony is that this is the very same organisation that is currently using our church premises as their campus for their full-time students.

This arrangement goes back to the time when Rev Dr Wee Boon Hup was our Pastor-in-Charge. RHEMA was looking to set up a presence in Singapore, and Rev Dr Wee offered the use of our church premises. His wife is numbered among the pioneer batch of graduates, and since then, many other fellow church members have also benefited from their programme.

Rev Dr Wee has now moved on to become the TRAC President.

[Sarcasm mode on]

Given the current stand against grace teachings, one wonders how this would affect the arrangement with RHEMA Singapore. One can already hear the cry, "We let them use our premises rent-free and how do they repay our kindness? By allowing their Dean and Directors to attend *that* church?! Let's evict them!"

On August 14 last year, a prayer walk was conducted because "evil had entered the church" when a member shared during WIN about taking the Holy Communion during cell meetings. It would appear that either the effect of that walk has worn out, or that the walk was insufficient to begin with.

Perhaps it is time to take it a step further and embark on a 40-day fast. While at it, let's show God how much we mean business by putting on sackcloth, rubbing our faces with ashes and wailing out loud.

[Sarcasm mode off]

Or perhaps we have been barking up the wrong tree...

Hillsong has caught it. RHEMA Singapore has caught it. Dear fellow PLMC members, please do not get left behind...

Hi Malcolm,

I did take part in that prayer walk on August 14 and ended up walking home before the meeting was over! For the record, that was my last visit to WIN!

It's sad when the work of the Holy Spirit is being credited to the devil and vice versa.

Let's continue to pray, that God will eventually remove the veil that the evil one has placed over his eyes.

PLMC is not the only church ... drive to Ikea Alexandra at the junction there's a church which displayed a huge banner for many months last year, "Remember the Laws of Moses." Not too sure if it's still there, but my wife was saying, "wake up please!" I was thinking, "oh man, thou shall not steal! thou shall not covet! thou shall not kill! thou shall not commit adultery! thou shall not ... very tough man! By Jesus definition sure all cannot make it! I get angry at some brothers on the road then murder liao! I dun even know them! As man, I am tempted, you know? Like that commit adultery liao! under this kind of condemnation, can go mad!" Now when I am tempted to sin, and it's very difficult to resist, I hear a soft gentle voice within me, saying, "do it for Me." I drew strength from it and resisted, the temptation left! I am not saying this is the way, but it was indeed a real encounter I had just not too long ago. So now whenever I am tempted, I would recall that episode. I may not hear that voice from within, but I knew exactly what to do liao! I am not saying I am sinless liao, or immune to temptation liao, rather I seek Him daily to draw strength for my daily challenges, afterall His manna is good only for the day, Amen!

Hahaha I have seen that poster before. I pointed it out to my hubby and that church has a kindergarten - he praised God our kid doesn't attend that school. =p

Indeed, the Holy Spirit's prompting is gentle and inviting. We just have to train ourselves to listen amidst the cacophony of the world and pick it out. Then, exercise the fruit of the spirit which is self-control. =)

Telling a kid to NOT stick a pea up his nose, is like encouraging curiosity enough to try it. =p

Grace removes the desire to even touch that pea, because you know you shouldn't and you don't want to disappoint your Dad by doing something dumb like sticking a pea up your nose.
