Traditionally, the number 13 has been associated with "bad luck". Even more so, when the 13th of the month happens to fall on a Friday, it is said to be "double bad luck".
There was even a movie by the name of Friday the 13th.
The Hokkien terms "heng" and "suay" is used to describe events or circumstances when one is "lucky" or "unlucky".
As Christians, we believe that our God is omnipotent and in control of every situation. Hence, the words "lucky" or "unlucky" should not exist in our dictionary.
That is why we do not wish people "Good luck" or "Best of luck". Rather, we tell them, "God's shalom peace be with you" or "God's blessings be upon you".
The monthly sessions where each cell member brings a dish is called "potbless" rather than "potluck".
We do not say someone is happy-go-lucky. Rather, he is "joyful-go-blessed".
Back to the topic of Friday the 13th.
Anything that creates fear and instills fear in us is not from the LORD, because God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of love, and of power and of a sound disciplined mind (2 Tim 1:7)
So it does not matter if today happens to be Friday the 13th. Today is an equally blessed day because it is the day that He has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it (Psalm 118:24)
In fact, every day is blessed because we have Christ in us. Surely, goodness and loving-kindness will hunt us down all the days of our life. (Psalm 23:6)
