Additions to XT and XD collection

Sunday, 4 March 2007

I have previously blogged on my Christian tshirt (XT) and Christian decal (XD) collections.

Since those blog entries, there have some further additions, and I will talk about them in this post.

Additions to XT

Since the last time, I have added #21 and #22 to my collection as follows:

21. ROOTSS: LET'S TALK ABOUT JESUS (Feb 2007)
9th design to be printed at Spectrum

This design came about as a result of a post where I spoke about how we should wear the Cantonese term "kong ye sou" as a badge of honour. The traditional Chinese characters for were used because they appear more majestic. “Let’s talk about Jesus more and more” is a phrase lifted from a Sunday School song. In place of the T in talk is a cross, which is widely used to represent Christ because of His finished work on it.

Below these is the url of this blog, followed by the acronym R-O-O-T-S-S in rainbow colours, and the phrase “Reflections Of One That Says So”. A picture of the roots of a tree is then illustrated as a play on the word “rootss”, together with the verse Ps 107:2 “Let the redeemed of the LORD say so”.

I had initially sent the design to Spectrum on 1 Feb 07, just before my blog was awarded “Best Christian Blog of the Week” on 4 Feb 07, Fortunately, it was not printed yet, and the final version had this reflected in red italics.

22. LOVING MY FAMILY (Feb 2007)

This design was printed by Focus On The Family, a charity organisation that arranges talks for teens, parents, married couples, etc. I signed up as a volunteer to sell flags (on Chinese New Years' Eve, no less) and got this beautiful tshirt with the Chinese words "ai jia", which means "loving my family". On the left of the words is picture of a mother and father embracing their child.

Additions to XD

I went to Acts Lifestyle recently, where I added #13 to #17 to my collection.

13. Go Against the Flow

We commonly hear the phrase "just go with the flow". But do you know that we as Christians should actually "go against the flow"? In Rom 12:2, Paul tells us not to conform to the world's pattern but be transformed by the renewing of our minds. This decal shows a fish swimming in the opposite direction of other fishes, and has the words "Don't Conform. Be Transformed" below it. My daughter and some of her friends like this decal best of all.

14. The Big Bang Theory

The "big bang theory" was coined by atheists who claim that the universe with all its stars and planets came about by a sudden explosion.

As Christians, we too have our "big bang theory", as it were, in that something was formed out of nothing. The fundamental difference is that God was behind it. In Genesis 1, we read that God spoke, "Light be" and there was light.

15. Rapture

In 1 Thess 4:16-17, Paul tell us, "For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever."

This decal declares, "WARNING! in case of rapture, this car will be unmanned" because the owner would have been zapped up into heaven :-)

16. Coincidence

This one makes a very interesting statement that "Coincidence is when God chooses to remain anonymous".

What the world refers to as coincidences, we as Christians know to be "divine appointments" because nothing happens by chance. I have a post where I talk about "qarah" or right happenings, and how I met my wife. You can read about it here.

17. Prayer Power

When we study the gospels, we would realise that the secret behind the powerful ministry of Jesus is that He spent considerable time each day communing with His Heavenly Father.

If we want to live a fruitful and abundant life, we should likewise spend time with the LORD. In James 5:15, he says that the prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

Decals #18 and #19 were bought from Tecman. As I have run out of space at the back of the car, these 2 decals are stuck on the window next to the driver's seat.

18. PUSH

PUSH is an acronym for Pray Until Something Happens.

In Luke 11:5-8, Jesus gives the example of someone who goes to his neighbour's house at midnight to ask for bread, and how his neighbour finally gives in because of persistence. So likewise should our prayers and petitions be. Ask, seek and knock, and it will be given, we shall find, and the door will be open to us.

19. WWJD

WWJD is the acronym for "what would Jesus do"? Whenever we have crucial decisions to make, we should step back and ask ourselves what Jesus would do if He was in a similar situation.

The best decisions are those made in line with His will, and to know His will, we should be familiar with His Word. Which brings to mind the following Sunday School song:

Read your Bible, pray every day, pray every day, pray every day

Read your Bible, pray every day

You will grow, grow, grow (x3)

Read your Bible, pray every day, you will grow, grow, grow.

Have a blessed week ahead!

Shalom
