Sincere... but sincerely Wrong

Friday, 31 August 2007

One of the most prolific Christian novelists is C.S. Lewis. He wrote a series called The Adventures of Narnia to bring out gospel truths.

Here is my first attempt in writing a short story. Tell me what you think :-)

"Brethren. Thanks for coming here tonight.

"The reason why I have called for this meeting is because I am very concerned for the people of God. There has been a sudden surge in false teachings and wrong doctrines, and the situation appears to be getting more prevalent by the day! More and more people are being swayed over by these heresies. [1]

"We have to stand firm together on this, because I have no doubts that Satan is the one behind all this! Evil has entered our midst!” [2]

"Amen to that brother! The teachings are causing disunity among the people, and even giving them the licence to sin and break laws! We have to do something to clamp down on this immediately before it gets further out of hand.” [3]

"How dare these people propagate what goes against the very foundation of our faith! Sir, give me the names of these people! I promise you that I will spare no effort to weed out these evildoers and infidels once and for all, so help me God!" [4]

[1] Acts 4:15-17
[2] Matt 12:24, Mark 3:22, Luke 11:15
[3] Matt 9:14, Mark 2:18, Luke 5:33, Matt 12:2, Luke 6:2, Matt 12:10, Mark 3:2, Luke 6:7
[4] Acts 9:2, Acts 22:4-5, Acts 26:10-12

Haha.. good one! :D beware of being labelled as "quoting out of context" though :p

i often hear "this preacher is blatantly quoting out of context" in the circle and it can be quite annoying (at times) cos i dun know the bible that well to refute the person saying it :p

But what you wrote is smthg i've heard & even read often on the net before. And i have to agree it's usually said/written by well-meaning, sincere christians who well... might be sincerely wrong.
